I have to admit. I COULD make the apple filling by hand. It’s just apples, and butter and flour and cinnamon and salt, and brown sugar, and, and, and.

But Fall is a busy time for me, so canned apple pie filling will do just fine, thank you very much! Using it cuts the time to make this recipe quite a bit and it tastes delicious, as well.

The first step is to just mix the dry ingredients in a bowl and whisk them all together.

Parchment paper makes clean up easy.

Spraying with a bit olive oil in my Misto sprayer helps, too!

Press half of this mixture in the prepared pan. I just added the mixture and used my hands to press it in, being careful to keep the parchment paper in place.Apple Pie Oatmeal Bars - Tasty Fall Dessert Recipe (6)

The oatmeal mixture has a buttery sweet flavor and is nice and crispy and the apple filling tastes like Grandma’s apple pie without the crust.

If you don’t mind crumbly, go ahead and eat them straight out of the oven. (Served warm, the bars will be more like an apple crumble.)
