Indian Bhang Recipe | Good and Baked (2024)

By Good And Baked on in Drinks, Recipes

From Wikipedia:

Bhang is a preparation from the leaves and flowers (buds) of the female cannabis plant, smoked or consumed as a beverage in the Indian subcontinent.

Ingredients

  • 3 grams (1/8 ounce) butter
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1-2 grams of hash or cannabis
  • pinch of spice (cinnamon or nutmeg, depending on your tastes)

Directions

Melt butter in pan, add ground cannabis and simmer for one minute, then add milk. After gently warming, add any additional spices you’d like. We suggest cinnamon, nutmeg, or honey. For an added punch, toss in some vodka.

I think my buddy made that a few times. Pretty good stuff, for sure. He dried and ground leaves from a previous harvest and threw them in with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Good stuff for sure. I’m sure there are a ton of ways to do this. I always throw my clippings in a pot with milk and a little butter and lightly boil it the i let it cool and i run it through my blender and then strain it and remove the pulp. then i add cinnamon and sugar and refrigerate it. it ends up green but very asskicking. try it

That all depends on you Debbie. It’s plenty enough to share with a friend, but not too much to bogart all to yourself.

*its supposed to be a sweet drink*. also traditionaly they dont melt the butter like you would if makin brownies. they actually make a paste out of leaves stems etc
also no alcohol because its drank on a religious day called “holi”
gotta be careful cause it hits you faster than edibles since it is liquid(absorbs faster)
have seen people halucinate off it!!
        gluck 🙂

I can testify to that 😳 I made a small batch of Bhang yesterday evening and I hade two cups which I made into two servings and FYI the buds used weeds medicinal an I used 1/8 as the recipe called for .. I drank one cup right away and pretty much down d it in a few minutes.. I’ started to feel it about 10-15 minutes of consuming it . And I am still feeling the effects of it today .. so it lasts a long time . Effects were as follows : I was stoned out my mind off course, both mine and body high as I used a high cbd thc indica/sativa strain. I had visual An auditory hallucinations. An when Fell asleep . I had some funky dreams as well as no pain .. and for me I’m always in pain . Ie: back spine surgery as well as other surveys over the years /. So I can recommend this as a 110 % kickass way to take your marijuana if u don’t want to smoke 💨 and also time that it takes is ready within 10 -15 mins tops ..

I use this recipe minus the butter but with 2% milk which I heat to absolute boiling point, where it begins to rise up in the saucepan.

I take it off the heat and immediately add the cannabis, stir and put it into a heated thermos. I leave it for 24 hours, then put it in a glass jar in the fridge. It lasts me for 5 nights. I use this every night for pain and to help me sleep. It DOES get me really stoned and I have been using it for 2 years.

Does anyone else here suffer from eye problems with pot use? My left eye is very dry and the lid almost feels as though it sticks to the eyeball. Any ideas on this problem. Don’t know if it is the pot or something else.

Thanks for commenting, Jean. Glad to hear you are able to find relief from your pain. As for dry eyes, they seem to be a common complaint amongst cannabis users. I’d try some kind of eye moisturizing relief drops and see if that helps.

Try moisturizing your eyes with organic coconut oil. Very relieving, and prevents further drying out.

that sounds a great idea no need for the butter as there is fat in the milk to absorb the THC

So it sounds like “khushki” which literally means dryness. This is a well known effect of cannabis, you need to ensure you are consuming enough fats. Nuts and seeds are important and maybe some coconut oil in your drink!

Both do, the males are just seed-y so less desirable.

Male cannabis plants do not have seed, not ever. Female plants produce buds and male plants produce pollen, not seeds, not ever. You get seeds when the pollen from the male plant touches the pistols(the hairs) on your female plant. One more point, cannabis plants do not have strains, they have varieties, just like other plants. A virus or mold can be a strain, not a plant. Please, please just read and learn something, then try and tell others

no, seedy weed comes from a female plant that has been fertilized by a male plant. male plants do not produce thc, and only serve to pollenate the females.

do you not recommend straining? I use a similar variation, yet strain it and add cinnamon, cocoa powder, and kahlua/baileys/vodka. I dont really consider it bhang though, more like “pot chocolate” or “pot cocoa” 😛

No Cody, Jeremy means strains as in types of weed, varieties. You can strain your Zhang if you wish, I certainly do.

Yes it really gets you stoned. FAR more intense than smoking can ever get you stoned, but you have to do it right. Its all about timing, and not burning the weed/thc.

1 gram of hash compared to 1 gram of cannabis flower is a very significant difference! 2 grams of hash for two servings would be way too much for most people where 2 grams of flower might be fine.
